The Marsh Collection

 

I find immense joy and peace in nature. As I write this I’m enjoying a cup of coffee, looking out at the creek and the yellowing marsh grass at Bald Head Island, NC.

You can’t deny God’s hand and presence here, I think that’s why I’m so drawn to painting the marsh. It’s quiet and magical. It brings me back to memories of “grand” childhood adventures through fields and creeks.

I’m reminded of the quilts my great-grandmother made. Beautiful objects, loving made-by-hand, and holding so many precious memories. They’re treasures really, passed from one generation to the next, telling the stories of a family.

The Marsh collection explores the themes and ideas of the quilt, of creation and of the true essence of a place. I wanted these paintings to embody feelings of love, peace and so much more.

My hope is that these paintings are:

  1. A reminder of happy memories.

  2. An inspiration for future adventures!

  3. A source of peace everyday.
