Tangerine Skies Q&A with JTW Design

It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Jessica Williamson, owner of JTW Design, as the first guest in my Tangerine Skies Q&A series!

We chatted about God’s beauty, finding center and where to catch the best sunset. Plus, Jessica shared her favorite painting from the Tangerine Skies collection, releasing with Liza Pruitt on May 26!

Tangerine Skies, takes you from the coastal marshes of the Carolinas onto the open waters. So let’s kickoff the fun this month with Jessica’s Tangerine Skies Q&A!

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do!

A: I am the owner of JTW Design, a boutique interior design studio in Richmond, Virginia. I am a wife and also a mom of two wonderful children. Design has been a part of my life since I was very little. I think those of us who are artists have something inside of us that allow us to lean in to the creative side of life. It’s a gift to be able to see color and form in a way others might not, and I love working with my team to share that gift with others.

Q: The Tangerine Skies painting collection serves as a reminder to slow down and enjoy the beauty all around us. How do you slow down and enjoy beauty in your life?

A: Finding time to be still isn't easy with a busy family and business, but often times I sit outside and listen to whatever music is pulling at my heart. Sitting and watching the colors change in the sky and noticing how the trees appear different against the changing sky brings me to back to center.

“Orange Crush,” an 11x14 in. acrylic painting on 2 in. deep wood panel, Jessica’s top pick!

Q: Where is your favorite place to watch a sunset?

A: On the beaches of the Outer Banks.

Q: Describe your most memorable sunset or sunrise. What made it special?

A: When my children were quite little and we were vacationing with my family in Avon, Hatteras, my son, who was 4 at the time woke me super early. I could have sent him back to bed out of fear of waking up the rest of the family, but instead we snuck outside and watched the sun rise on the beach. It was magnificent. God really put on a show that morning!

Q: What advice would you give someone looking to invest in original art for their home?

A: I am firm believer that art should evoke an emotion. Often people are intimidated by original art, worried about whether they are spending too much or too little on a piece. Art is an investment for the soul.
