Tangerine Skies Q&A with Emily James Creative

Up next in my Tangerine Skies Q&A series is another North Carolina gal who I’ve loved getting to know, Emily James, of Emily James Creative!

Emily stopped by my studio back in the fall for a lovely visit. We chatted about art, Golden Retrievers and her daughter’s love of a “pretty pink sky.” So I knew I had to get Emily on the blog for my sunset series! Read my Q&A with Emily below.

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do!

A: I am a copywriter and communications strategist that caters specifically to artists. From artist bios and statements to web copy that converts to sales, I handle all written communications. I also support artists who want to submit their work to galleries, art shows, exhibitions, and contests. In addition to creating their written communication, I organize their digital portfolio and create beautiful, original visuals. My clients are represented by galleries across the country.

Q: The Tangerine Skies painting collection serves as a reminder to slow down and enjoy the beauty all around us. How do you slow down and enjoy beauty in your life?

A: My favorite way to get outside and enjoy nature is to take my dogs somewhere quiet and secluded and let them run or swim. I love watching them swim.

Q: Where is your favorite place to watch a sunset?

A: Naples, Florida.

Q: Describe your most memorable sunset. What made it special?

A: My job used to take me to the gulf side of Florida. At the end of a long day of meetings I loved to go to the beach alone and watch the sunsets. It was a great way to reset.

Q: What advice would you give someone looking to invest in original art for their home?

A: Art is all about what you love. Whether it’s a $20 piece you find at the flea market or a special commission you create with an artist, buy what makes you happy. When it comes to how you pair your art, don’t worry about making things match. If it’s all art you love, it matches. Art is a fun investment because you can take it with you from house to house and pass it down to other generations.
