A Trip to Maine

 

Brantley and I took a four-day trip to Maine in October to celebrate his 30th birthday. Ever since completing this commission of Five Islands, ME, last winter, I’ve been dreaming about exploring the area! The cute coastal towns and fall foliage did not disappoint!

Our Itinerary:

Day 1

  • Arrive in Portland, ME, and pickup a rental car.

  • Visit Portland Head Light and Bug Light.

  • Explore downtown Portland.

  • A delicious dinner at ViA VECCHiA.

Day 2

  • Breakfast at Becky’s Dinner.

  • Drive along the coast, making stops at Freeport, Wiscasset, Damariscotta and Camden.

  • Another amazing supper at Primo Restaurant.

  • Spend the night in Rockland. We stayed at a cute hotel (with great local art) called 250 Maine.

Day 3

  • Acadia:

    • Lunch at Jordan Pond House.

    • Drive the Park Loop.

    • Visit Sand Beach.

    • Hike Great Head Trail.

  • Head to Bar Harbor for the night.

  • Drinks on the lawn at Ivy Manor Inn.

Day 4

  • Acadia:

    • Drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain.

    • Visit Thunder Hole.

    • Explore Otter Cliffs.

    • Stop at Bass Harbor Head Light Station.

  • Head to Bangor International Airport for the night to catch an early flight the next morning!
