A Commission for Jaime Albert Designs

I’ve been following Jaime Albert designs for several years, so when she reached out about commissioning a marsh painting for one of her clients, I was thrilled to work together.

Jaime Albert Designs is an interior designer in Charleston, SC. She tailors each design project to the individual client to create a functional and beautiful space that perfectly suits their needs.

I adored working with Jaime to create a custom marsh painting as centerpiece for her client’s sitting room. We went with a soothing and sophisticated look with the perfect pop of color!

Here’s Jaime’s Q&A:

Q: Why did you decide to commission a painting?

A: My client holds original artwork in high regard. Since we were working on giving her a completely renovated room, we aimed to integrate every element seamlessly, making sure the commission piece not only serves as a focal point, but also works well with the textiles in the room, flows with the mood of the room, and ties in with the surrounding spaces. When I discovered Sarah Jane on Instagram, I knew it would be a perfect fit for this client.

Q: What was your favorite part of the commission process?

A: Having the video call with Sarah Jane and collaboratively discussing our vision for the commission was an enriching experience. It was an intriguing exercise to articulate the desired mood for the painting and to see the final product align perfectly with our vision was not only exciting, but fulfilling.

Q: Do you have any advice for someone considering booking a commission?

A: Have an example in mind and color palette ready. Be able to communicate with the artist your vision for the piece and provide as many concrete photos as possible that depict your vision so everyone is on the same page.

I’m participating in Jaime’s Summer Art Show July 10–11 at her home in Mount Pleasant, SC, and I’d love to see you there!
