Marsh Studies

I’ve been working on a couple of new pieces this month for an online group art show with Liza Pruitt that’s coming up in July.

I’ll have three 16x16 in. acrylic paintings on panel available, continuing my exploration of North Carolina’s coastal marshlands!

I gathered a bit of research in May with a trip to Bald Head Island to visit family, and I decided it was the perfect time to read “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens. (If you haven’t read it yet, do yourself a favor and get a copy now! It’s so, so good!)

With fresh inspiration, I started painting. I worked on all three paintings at once, hopping from one panel to the next with the assistance of my lovely golden girl!

You’ll notice a more neutral color scheme, something I’ve been playing with for a larger collection that will be coming in the fall! (You can see a peek of a 30x40 in. on the wall behind Rosie!)

So for now these three will be drying until I can varnish them, giving them a nice glossy finish.

If you’re interested in purchasing one of these pieces for yourself, be sure to visit www.lizapruitt.com on July 15 at 9 a.m. EST for the release!
