Black is Beautiful
As an artist, I see the world in shapes and colors. Each one is beautiful as it mixes and intertwines with the next to create life all around us.
Black in particular has a certain richness and beauty to it. My life and my art would be sad and dull without it.
So as we navigate change, mourning, sin and racism in today’s world, may we do so with humility and grace. Remembering that we are created in the image of a just and loving Creator, a God who calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31).
I will never know what it is like to be a Black woman in today’s society; but what I can do is listen, learn, pray, grow and support the Black people in my life and community.
So to my Black friends, neighbors and fellow creators: I love you, I see you and you most certainly matter today and everyday.
