Studio Life Lately

It took a little time to settle into the new space, but it feels like I’ve hit a good stride lately, painting a couple of hours each day. It often feels like I have to work through a few paintings and ideas, then suddenly, out of nowhere, I’m in an effortless flow state. I can paint and hours pass by in what seems like mere minutes!

I’m mostly working on paintings for my first solo show of 2022 with Liza Pruitt, which will be releasing in May.

My new surroundings in Wilmington, NC, are my inspiration for this new body of work — it feels very impressionistic. I’m following my instincts as I explore the landscape, playing with colors and textures as I go!

It’s funny, I’ve been painting coastal scenes for a couple of years now, but this is the first time I’ve lived at the coast, fully immersed in this scenery. God works in mysterious ways, y’all!

I’m able to stretch out a bit more in the new studio, so I’m excited to paint some bigger paintings for this collection. Lookout for some 36x48 in. beauties!

I can’t wait to see this work come together and to share it with you via Liza Pruitt this spring!

Also, a big shoutout to everyone who supported Liza and I in the now SOLD OUT Water’s Edge collection!!!

If you have one of the Water’s Edge paintings in your home, feel free to send us a photo of it, we’d love to see!
