A Wonderful Photoshoot

The weeks leading up to the Wonder collection photoshoot were a flurry of planning, painting and tidying!

I’d been working on my new body of work since September, finding painting time between commissions and holiday markets. But I needed a hard deadline, so I booked a show, and then I booked a branding photography session with Allison Nichole Photography for Jan. 25!

I saw Allison’s stunning branding shoot for a friend and loved her photography style! So I was excited to meet her and collaborate on a shoot for the Wonder collection!

With a deadline on the calendar, I got to work. Paintings had to be done and dry, the studio needed a little cleaning and it felt like the perfect opportunity to include a few of my other favorite local makers!

The lovely Kat of Pamut Apparel makes beautiful, sustainable clothing. Pamut’s mission to connect people to community and nature, seemed like the perfect fit to pair with my Wonder paintings! I wore the raw silk, Hanna Romper in fig and the Zero Waste Tee in white. They fit perfectly and are super comfy, which was perfect for the photoshoot!

If you know me well, you know I LOVE earrings! I don’t always wear bracelets or necklaces, but I always have on a pair of earrings. I met Lorrisa, the maker behind Edella Co., at a pop-up market at Sola Coffee. She makes these amazing statement earrings out of clay! I had been looking for an excuse to get a pair, so I ordered the Mustard Della Dangles to go with my Pamut romper!

Another incredible local maker is Rachel of Wind Blown. Her everyday jewelry goes with everything, and I wear it almost daily! So of course I had to incorporate some of her jewelry into the shoot! I paired the Uplifted Necklace and the Grateful Studs with the Pamut Zero Waste Tee and Target jeans for the win!

Paintings complete, outfits ready, a little studio reorganization (thanks to my husband for helping me create a studio wall easel to hang my paintings!) and I was ready to go for my branding photography session!

Saturday morning I got up, made a last minute Target run and picked up Starbucks. Allison arrived a little before 10 a.m. and we got right to it! She is the absolute sweetest, so we had the best time bouncing around the studio and staging paintings around the house!

We had a moodboard and a shot list to work from, which helped guide the session. But Allison was the true MVP! Her calm nature and her expertise made the shoot feel effortless and so fun!

Our golden retriever, Rosie was also very interested in what was happening and wanted to be right in the action! So after we wrapped up a terrific session, (thanks to so many amazing ladies!) Rosie and I happily snuggled on the couch for a restful afternoon!
